To Play Or Not To Play

So Saturday was Colton's first soccer game. I was so excited for him to run and kick the ball and just have a great time....he had other plans.

So we spent the first half the game like this. Along with some other teammates. However, after half time, he decided it was ok to play!!! Yeahhhhh AND he scored 2 GOALS!!!! We were soooooo excited!! That's him in the middle kinda to the left headed left. lol

No Dessert, No Soda, Day....I forget

My original Lent was for no chocolate and no soda. However, while sitting at Rico's last Thursday I was very much enjoying my vanilla ice cream cone when something came over me that not only should I be giving up chocolate, but desserts entirely for Lent. As I agreed readily to this request I felt was coming from my God who wants me to dive in deeper to His word, I also readily agreed that I would be finishing that ice cream cone first, then it would begin. =)

So no sweets at all for me. It hasn't been as horrible as I thought. What I did come to realize is, when I want something sweet, I simply turn to something else to fill it. A piece of gum or some fruit. Does this not defeat the purpose?? At those times this is when I am to go to my God and say what is it we need to learn together? What is it I can do to serve you better? Not, ok, so I can't have this sweet but I'll fill it with another one that is more allowable. I am supposed to work through the desire and use that energy elsewhere for His greater good. I think I need to work harder at this. I'm tired already. LOL

My volleyball helper

Here is Colton eating his candy with his cheesy grin while at Makenzie's volleyball practice. He thinks he's hilarious when he makes faces like these.

My baby is now on the other side of 3 1/2 where he's closer to 4 now than 3. =(

Day 1 Easy, Day 2 I feel the cravings coming...

So Day 1 of no chocolate/soda was easy. We had a luncheon here at work so I replaced those cravings with chips and queso. =)

Day 2, sitting here eating my sandwich, really really desiring a soda.

Instead, I will have my water and thank the Lord that it's clean and I can drink it without worry.
I will pray for 2 friends who have recently had surgery and ask for God's grace and healing as they recover.
I will make it through this day, praying for cravings of His word and not my own selfish thoughts/needs.

Thank you Lord for precious gifts such as these.

Yes, it's been forever...Here's to a new Lent season

Hello all! Yes, we're still alive. I started a new job back in June of 2011. Since then I have been a little on the busy side. =)

So here's to a new Lent season. I am giving up soda and chocolate for Lent. I plan on bringing this blog back to life with my daily struggles that I KNOW I will be going through and how God will pull me through and teach me to lean COMPLETELY on Him and not on chocolate and soda. Gonna need some prayers with this one.

Day 1 to commence tomorrow. . . .
